We made it! This autumn we finally made it back on stage with our first live and in-person production since March 2020, and it was an absolute joy to see so many of you in the audience each night. Our Black Death received tremendous reviews, and played to sold out houses nearly every night. We couldn’t be more grateful for the support of our Taffety Punk family and supporters. Thank you.

In fact 2022 proved to be quite a productive year!

Company member and choreographer Erin Mitchell Nelson collaborated on two dance films with filmmaker Emily Marquet, featuring company members Omar D. Cruz and Safi Harriott. The Riot Grrrls have been lending their voices to the recordings for Teresa Spencer’s upcoming audio book. Kelsey Mesa has been developing a new play. And Safi has been choreographing a new work based on feminist sonnets.
 
 
 
 
Over the summer Erin was offered a week long residency in the Kennedy Center’s studios at The REACH to start workshopping a new work. Erin invited local musicians Amy Domingues and Amy Farina; a small group of dancers, including company members Katie Murphy and Safi; as well as local mixed media fiber artist Rania Hassan. Rehearsals continue and they look forward to presenting this new work in Spring of 2023.

Taffety Punk exists to sustain a collection of performing artists who make theatre exciting, meaningful, and affordable. We think of ourselves as a band in which acting, dance, and music are intricately linked. Taffety Punk began seventeen years ago because we identified a need for change. Help us as we continue to provide opportunities and experiences to our company of artists and collaborators.
