Taffety Punk brings you the story of Beowulf as it was meant to be told - in the mead hall. Like the bards of old, Marcus Kyd narrates this heroic saga in a pop-up bar.

Directed by company member Chris Curtis, the evening's minimalism yields epic depth in this retelling of our oldest surviving English story.

A love story like no other.
Often emulated, never equaled.

Taffety Punk presents the story of a hero who fights for right, defends the weak, and inspires all to see and take delight in the beauty of the world. This is the hero Edmond Rostand gives us in Cyrano de Bergerac, a master of swords and words, plucked from the deep bench of classical French history to thrill audiences the world over.

Director Lise Bruneau brings this uplifting epic to life with just five actors. Kimberly Gilbert plays the titular hero.

at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop
545 7th Street SE, WDC 20003

Sep 25 — Oct 11

There will be no late seating for this event.
If you do not arrive by the time the show starts,
you will not be able to get in.

Starring Taffety Punk company members Kimberly Gilbert, Tonya Beckman, Dan Crane, with guest artists Fabiolla da Silva, and Gary DuBreuil. With lights by Elijah Thomas; costumes by Elizabeth Morton. Sound design by Matthew Nielson. Fight choreography by Lorraine Ressegger-Slone.

Heads up:  there will be some pre-show activity in the lobby. The fun begins five or ten minutes before curtain. If you miss a bit of this, or cannot see all of it, please do not worry; it is not crucial and designed to be sporadic. The actors will then usher you into the Black Box Theatre where the actual show begins.

TOO LIKE THE LIGHTNING:

Prose Poems to My Almost Loves

is a collection of love poems to catcallers, followers home, pervs online, and other sundry unsavory types.

Alongside pinup-style illustrations by Sydney Schwindt, each poem is based on real encounters between women and harassers and gives the lie to the excuse, “It was only a joke.”

In this collection of hilarious meet-cutes, the joke is on the jerks.
